56. History – Indus Valley Civilization

The Indus Valley Civilization developed mainly in the northwestern parts of the Indian subcontinent, around the Indus River system. People lived in well-planned cities with houses made of baked bricks. Agriculture, trade and crafts were important occupations. The cities had an advanced drainage system. Harappa and Mohenjo-daro were important cities of this civilization.

The water cycle is the continuous movement of water between the Earth and the atmosphere.

  1. Evaporation: The Sun heats water in rivers, lakes and seas and changes it into water vapour.
  2. Condensation: Water vapour cools and forms clouds.
  3. Rainfall: Water falls from clouds to the Earth as rain.

This process continues again and again.
